SLC ENTRY :: THREAT LEVEL ORANGE

Awesome little slice o' life from our current political situation. The lead character is, in my mind, not paranoid at all, but is undergoing exactly what we all would -- if Bush and Cheney had gotten their way and the Democrats hadn't taken back Congress! Good material for classrooms of the future ...

What makes you so sure? The Democrats still seem to be giving George all his Chistmas wishes like suspending habeas corpus and extending the provisions of the Patriot Act.

The Democrats are suckers for the perminent world-wide war on terrorism whie being totally weak and ineffectual (frankly no one can be as weak and incompetitent as George W.) in capturing Osama or stopping the spread of terrorist networks in Pakistan.

You've got to be amazed at what a joke these guys are in Washington. They are big LOSERS wasting our tax money and getting zero results. I refused to totally exempt the Democrats from these failures but the Republicans have proved they are total LOSERS and WIMPS! George gets up in the morning, puts his stylin' cowboy boots on, walks around like he's a tough guy (fooling nobody but himself) and he's a total wimp and could catch a butterfly with a billion dollar arsenal.

What a joke, Mr. Cowyboy-man from Texas. What a loser!

I think you meant to say, "...Bush can NOT catch a butterfly with a one billion dollar arsenal."

Good point, he is a total failure as a President. Let's turn that into a positive sentance: Bush is accomplished at being the worst Prez ever.

This film is a good example of what can happen when you choose to use your right to question the government. It seems we have to do our own investigating to find the truth, since the news media isn't reporting the whole story. Dissent isn't very popular with this administration either, and I have often wondered if I was on some kind of black list for attending anti-war rallies and protesting various issues. We need to continue to seek the truth, but be vigilant and watch our backs.

Is the filmmaker portraying a character who is paranoid, simple-minded, dellusioned, and tortured by something he learns in a DVD? Ot does the filmmaker think he's dramatically reinacting "the truth"? I don't think the answer is clear. From the standpoint of direction and script, the filmmaker fails to understand the subtle textures of establishing a creditable point of view and audience perspective. This can be a fatal flaw when dealing with this subject matter or in a political thriller. Both "Illegal and Thriving" and "Threat Level Orange" try to take on big issues of gambling and habeas corpus within the structural confines of a dramatic short film and that is very ambitious. While I don't disagree with the sentiments expressed, both films also come across as excessively preachy, self-righeous, and leave little room to breath and create trust with the audience.

Even though some may think the filmmaker is going overboard, I enjoyed this short. It made me stop and think, and it also made me a little scared. Our government isn't what it tries to portray to its own people. I believe the paranoia and fear that the actor sets forth is common with more people in this country than we realize. I liked the fact that this short made me think, at the same time being entertaining.

Dems in Congress hand Bush more tools to obliterate the U.S. Constitution:

This delusional character and the weak plot are not entertaining at all. You do not establish a connection with the audience. This short does not have a "twist of fate" of any kind and really doesn't meet the criteria.

Stich and Bitch was quite dissapointing. I tried very hard to hang in there and finally got to the end. But there wasn't any point to the short and it certainly lacked a "twist of fate". It left the characters not fully developed, and provided no resolution in any of their lives.
